Robert L. “Bob” McVay died September 21, 2021, at Midland Hospice, Topeka.
Bob was born in Topeka, Kansas on August 17, 1925 to William and Alta “Lewis” McVay.
He was employed by Kansas Power & Light at the Tecumseh Generating Plant as a Lab Technician, retiring in 1987.
Bob was a respected self-taught bassist who entertained many people during his seven plus decade music career. He enjoyed all genres of music and played with Geri Van for 20+ years at various local venues. He was a long time member of the Topeka Jazz Society.
He was a member of Seabrook Lodge 225 Arab Shrine, Provost/Guard Division and enjoyed driving his convertible at many Shrine parades as a member of the Topless Club.
Bob is survived by daughters Sheryl (Tom) Sommers of Daphne, Alabama and Judy Pachosa of Topeka, and a son Michael McVay of Topeka. He is also survived by much loved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, a great-great grandson and his nieces and nephews. He was preceded In death by his parents, a daughter Anita Crummey and five siblings Walter, Harry, Mildred, Virginia and his twin brother Albert “Al” McVay.
