Mary (Beth) Copeland, age 79, fell asleep in Jesus on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at the Peggy Kelly House, a caring and loving Assisted Living home in Topeka, Kansas. From her birth on December 19, 1941 to her death on Wednesday, she lived to love, encourage, educate, and strengthen the people around her with the knowledge needed to make real and lasting change in their lives and in their world.
An award-winning author, Beth defied the cultural norms of her time, no matter what time that was! After raising her children as a single-mother, and then earning her Master’s degree in Psychology, Beth taught at the college level, and had a private counseling practice for many years.
Left to honor Beth and remember her love are Beth’s four surviving children, Tony (Melissa) Washington, Derek (Dorothy) Washington, Gene (Patty) Washington, and Leah (Neil) Buthorne; 10 Grandchildren – Matthew, Aaron, Samantha, Ryan, Jonathan, Addie, Nathan, David, Jason, and Rachel; and her seven great-grandchildren – Drayke, Paige, Simon, Ellery, Violet, Aiden and Atticus. Beth was sadly preceded in death by her parents, and her infant son, Elva. She will be remembered as a lover of all things EPCOT, lover of her faithful furry companion, Micah, and tireless champion for her precious children and grandchildren. The family would especially like to extend our gratitude to all the staff at the Peggy Kelly House #2 for their attentiveness and loving care.
