Michelle “Shelly” Marie Springstead (1966-2021)
TOPEKA, Kan. — Memorial services for Michelle “Shelly” Marie (McKaskle) Springstead, 54, of Topeka will be held at a later date.
Shelly was born Sept. 30, 1966 in Edmond, Okla., to Susan (Hanson) McKaskle, and passed from this life on Feb. 7, 2021 in Topeka, KS. Her adopted dad, Keith McKaskle, preceded her in death on November 10, 1988.
She is the granddaughter of the late James and Angeline (Schirf) Hanson of Anadarko, Okla. and graduated from Anadarko High School in 1984.
Shelly lived most of her adult life in Lynn Haven, Fla., where she and her former husband of 23 years, Karl Springstead, raised their son Ryan.
Above all she loved God, her son, her Momma, and her family. Shelly was an avid artist. She loved Mardi Gras and celebrated it with exuberance. Children were one of her passions and she worked many years in childcare while living in Florida. She also loved nature, especially anywhere close to an ocean, and animals of all kinds.
She spent the last few years living with and caring for her mother in their home in Topeka. While doing so, she became a fierce advocate for caregivers of dementia patients. Shelly had an unmatched zest for life. She will be forever missed by her many friends and her large family.
Survivors include her mother of the home; her son, Ryan Keith Springstead of Panama City, Fla.; a stepsister, Sherry McKaskle Suptin of Nashville, Tenn.; her partner, Jarvis Clark of Topeka, and too many Hanson aunts, uncles and cousins to list.
Shelly gained much support from the online movement created by Molly’s Movement. Memoriams to Shelly’s memory can be made by going to mollysmovement.com and purchasing from their online store.
