Phyllis Jean Michael, 66, passed away on June 23, 2019 in Topeka, Kansas.
Phyllis was born in Lola Kansas to Norman Ray Michael and Betty Jean Burris on August 26, 1952. She graduated from Iola High School in Iola Kansas in 1970. On June 19, 1970, Phyllis married Richard David Brundage in Iola Kansas, then moved to Kansas City Kansas shortly thereafter. They were married for 32 years.
She lived in Eastern Kansas her whole life where she enjoyed doing crafts which included floral arrangements and wood burning.
Phyllis owned her own cleaning company, PJ’s, for 10 years. She then went on to work customer service in a grocery store deli for 20 years.
She was a member of North Rock Baptist Temple for about 4 years.
Phyllis was a very protective momma bear with a heart of gold. To her children, she was a pushover and softy, and generous. She was a “Super-Mom”.
Her favorite Bible verse was Matthew 6:33. She also liked Psalm 23.
She is survived by her son, Toby Brundage-Sims and his husband Joshua of Topeka, and her daughter, Tonia Pendergrast of Topeka; her four grandchildren: Dominic Ross, Alaxandria Golden and her husband Dejon, Ethan Brundage, and Chancey Pendergrast; her three great-grandchildren: Jaden Ross, Myla Ross, and Braelyn Golden; her sister Joyce Bratsch, her brother, Rick Michael, her sisters, Brenda Buck and Christy Knoblich; and her friend, Tim Smith, and his son, Brandon.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her father, Norman, mother, Betty, and brother, Fred.
Memorial service will be held at North Rock Baptist Temple, 2322 NE Laurent St, Topeka, KS on June 29, 2019 at 2 pm with a reception following the service.
The family is thankful for the members of North Rock for being such a big part of her life.
